Meet our new Beef Cheek Stew

Looking for the perfect autumn or winter warmer for your next meal out? It's got to be our rich and comforting Beef Cheek Stew!

The Inspiration

This is our take on a classic oxtail stew, which is a popular dish across the Caribbean, especially in Jamaica - often reserved for special occasions as it's usually simmered for hours. It's completely worth the wait - a hearty dish that's full of rich and warming flavours. Oxtail or beef tail meat is intensely marinated, normally overnight to let the flavours seep in. It is then browned in a frying pan before bubbling away in a tasty mix of fresh herbs & spices such as thyme, scotch bonnet and allspice. Butterbeans are a must-have addition to a traditional oxtail stew, and many recipes will include carrots and spring onions.

In our new stew, we've used Beef Cheeks instead of Oxtail so you don't have to navigate any bones whilst not compromising on the same rich and meaty flavour.

The Flavours

The Beef Cheek Stew is a slow-cooked, hearty stew made from beef cheeks, that are cooked gently until tender and succulent. The rich gravy, infused with flavours of garlic, thyme, and Scotch bonnet peppers, perfectly complements the beef cheek's melt-in-your-mouth texture. The addition of soft butterbeans adds an extra gentle flavour (and even more protein!)

We served this stew with creamy, buttery mashed potatoes for the ultimate comforting stew.

Beef Cheek Stew is perfect for...

This is the perfect meal for anyone who loves a meaty, robust dish.  It's great for a cold winter's evening where you need a little cheering up - it's actually like a hug in a bowl!

Pair Beef Cheek Stew with...

The best companion to the Beef Cheek Stew has to be an ice-cold pint of Red Stripe! If you're not into beer, we would recommend one of our Sundowner cocktails - especially the Stir It Up, which has a subtle citrus-infused sweetness but remains light and refreshing.

If you're looking for a side to pair with the Beef Cheek Stew, we would recommend a side of Plantain as the sweetness will balance perfectly with the rich meaty flavours. A side of Garlic Flatbread or a portion of Dumplings is also ideal for mopping up the last of those tasty morsels - you're not going to want to waste a bite!

If you love this you'll love...

If you've tried our Beef Cheek Stew and loved it, then the next dish to order on your next visit has got to be our new Jerk Beef Rib. It has a similar level of warmth and richness, and is incredibly comforting - and very filling!
