Wray & Nephew
Thanks to our friends over at Wray & Nephew, our Island Escape is totally free with our 2 or 3 course set menu this Christmas.
Wray & Nephew Rum, established in 1825 in Jamaica, is a white overproof rum known for its strength and bold flavor. Founded by John Wray and later managed by his nephew, the brand became synonymous with Jamaican rum culture and craftsmanship. Over the years, Wray & Nephew has remained a staple in Caribbean celebrations and traditions, representing Jamaica's rich heritage in rum production. You can try Wray & Nephew in some of our other cocktails too. Try our Reggae Rum Punch, Rude Boy Revival and our Montego Bae.
What is Overproof Rum?
Overproof rum is the wild child of the rum world, packing a serious punch with an ABV of 50-75% (definitely not for the faint-hearted!😉).
Sailors used to test its strength by mixing it with gunpowder—if it exploded, it was “proof” it was strong enough. Over time, overproof rum became a Caribbean favourite, where local distillers embraced its bold strength. It was used in trade, island celebrations, and has become a key ingredient in traditional punches and cocktails, making its way from naval ships to bars around the world.
